Returning from my midday tiffin in Pv city, I noticed a couple of female Caminoers clearly lost on the Poio side of the river. I asked them if they were looking for the Camino and the said they were actually looking for a nearby hotel they’d booked for the night – the Motel Venus. Stifling a laugh, I told them this was a love-hotel-cum brothel. I wish I’d been quick enough to have snapped the look on their faces. Anyway, I offered to let them stay in my house, as the motel would be the only place with vacant rooms – available by the hour – in Pv city and its environs. They gladly accepted.

The United States of Trump America

Trump is an appalling individual but is he actually evil? Lenox Napier of Business Over Tapas has kindly sent me this article addressing this question. In case you can’t access it, the text is at the end of this post.

Trump’s humiliation by Xi was confirmed in 19-word statement which made no mention of president’s war with Iran or Americans detained in China. Trump posted about the meeting on Truth Social but it was remarkably short for someone who has gone on lengthy social media rants about numerous other topics, and it revealed no specific accomplishments from the meeting.

The weaker Trump gets, the more dangerous he becomes.

One wonders if Xi and Putin see Trump as an equally powerful and successful authoritarian leader. Doubtful. Possibly don’t even see him as sane.

Donald Trump and the Age of Evil

Donald Trump exhibits the classic traits of psychopaths — superficial charm, grandiosity and self-importance, a need for constant stimulation, a penchant for lying, deception and manipulation and incapacity for remorse or guilt.

But is he evil?

If, as the philosopher Susan Nieman writes, evil is not simply the opposite of good but inimical to it, if the aim of evil is to destroy all moral distinctions, then Trump qualifies as evil. Morality, for Trump, is for losers. All life is transactional. Self-interest and self-enrichment usurp all other considerations. No one else matters.

In her new book, “Call It Evil: Understanding the Trump Era,” Neiman argues that evil “isn’t cruelty but something much worse: the ideas that allow cruelty to become ordinary.” She continues:

There’s a difference between calling one action evil and calling another a crime. Crimes are things for which we have procedures—at least for punishing, if not for preventing. This means that a crime can be fit in some way into the rest of our experience. To call an action evil is to suggest it cannot—and that it thereby threatens the trust in the world that we need to navigate it. There’s no signpost on the border between evil and awful. Evil is what you say when your jaw begins to drop if you sense that a line has been crossed.

Trump crosses line after line. He declares wars on a whim. He enriches himself and his family in crypto schemes, from which he has made over a billion dollars. He orders assassinations and the kidnapping of heads of state. He uses billions of taxpayer dollars to sustain genocide in Palestine and since January 2025 has provided over $20 billion in new arms sales to Israel. He guts government departments designed to lift up the vulnerable and bloats the war budget. He builds rogue paramilitary forces to terrorize citizens and immigrants. He attacks and attempts to censor the news industry.

In short, he does what all who commit evil do.

He fosters a world where nothing is sacred and where democracy and civic virtues do not exist.

Concepts of fairness, decorum, justice and empathy are imploded by the Trump administration. His threat to annihilate Iran – i.e. carry out genocide – announced of all places at the United Nations, is greeted with indifference by a public rendered numb by his moral vacuity.

“Once the supremacy of self-interest is enshrined as commonsense realism rather than a philosophical idea, moral capacities like empathy and shame become not just naïve but suspect,” Neiman writes. “Sadists exist and cause no end of pain. But the most common forms of evil arise from the view that only fools believe in anything but their own advantage.”

The institutions designed to protect democracy, to safeguard civic virtues, to foster equality — including the courts, law firms, universities and the media, all of which have been captured by the billionaire class — swiftly fell to their knees to curry favor with the Trump White House. The titans in Silicon Valley showered him and his campaign with millions of dollars. The supposed virtues these institutions and individuals claimed they championed were jettisoned. These virtues, they illustrated, were nothing more than branding, performance art, a sham.

To an enraged public Trump’s transparent greed and cruelty is preferable to the slick hypocrisy of the politicians, Republican and Democrat, who preceded him. He does not engage in their faux empathy. In fact, he seems incapable of empathy.

Once morality is for fools, virtue makes no sense. Once we believe we should grab what we can, even at the expense of those around us, we surrender to evil.

“Unlike the rest of us, he permanently exhibits the combination of motives we are told are the true forces driving human behavior,” Neiman writes of Trump: Nor does he appear to understand any other. Though he recognizes that other people, aka losers, have norms, he has no idea of how norms work, moving people to override self-interest in order to honor them. In acting on the international stage like Richard Dawkins’s ruthless genes, he has attracted millions of followers who tell us they admire his authenticity. This doesn’t mean his followers are deplorable. They may not be evil at all, but in a world where implacable self-interest is usually camouflaged in soft colors, they find his candor refreshing. They have so often heard that people conceal the raw self-interest that really moves things, they’re relieved to watch a man who never hides it.

The worst evil, Neiman argues, “may be the denial of evil – as well as disdain for any goodness that might oppose it. When self-interest becomes the basis of reason, evil no longer needs to justify itself. It’s already been mistaken for rationality.”

This evil leads us down the familiar road to fascism. It was Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during Trump’s first term, who warned us, calling Trump “fascist to the core.”

The media — too spineless to label Trump a fascist — prefers the word “authoritarian,’ which Neiman notes may be a more bearable word, but “will not make fascism more bearable.”

Authoritarianism, she notes: [I]s a word that can be useful for describing certain German professors, and the softer sort of Latin American military regime. But a country where masked men deport people to wastelands they’ve never seen? Combat troops occupy major cities and shoot peacefully protesting citizens? A government that coerces media, universities, and other countries to suit its will? A military that blows fishermen to bits with the meagerest of justifications, then begins the kind of wars the International Military Court at Nuremberg condemned? As it wrote in 1946, ‘To initiate a war of aggression is not only an international crime, it is the supreme international crime, differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole.’ It would be easy to go on, but counting crimes is pointless. Before these words are printed, the administration will have found countless new ways to flout the rule of law.

We are in deep trouble.

The moral rot in our society preceded Trump. He is its logical conclusion. He is the apotheosis of a culture where greed, exploitation and self-interest, the core tenets of neoliberalism, are held up as the defining forces of human existence.

We must fight back while we can. But to do so requires that we recapture the language of good and evil. It requires us to make moral choices and to accept self-sacrifice. It requires us to name the bleakness before us, not turn our faces from the fascist monolith being cemented into place.

Denying these truths and refusing to defy evil will ensure our enslavement.

Speaking these truths and standing with the oppressed and the marginalized, even at the cost of our own financial and physical security, will set us free.

  1. I am one of the two Caminoers, my sister is the other, she is also the one who booked the brothel (For the record, she is fired from booking future accommodations). Colin speaks the truth, he offered us a safe place to stay. Bless him. He also offered us a bottle of wine and a beautiful view from his home, which we accepted. I believe everyone has a guardian angel (s). Colin is ours. If ever in Santa Barbara, California, Colin has a place to stay (and of course, a bottle of wine with a view). Buen Camino!

  2. Thank-you so much for your thanks. You were both a great audience and I really enjoyed meeting you. Buen camino! See you in Santa Barbara!

I forgot to tell you that Caldas de Reis is a spa town. After you’ve entered the town via a bridge and turned off the main road left to follow the camino, take the first left after 40-50 yards and you will find a public wash place where the water in the trough is hot. You can sit on the side and dangle your tired feet in it.

If you reach the church on your right after you’ve turned left, you’ve missed the turn. Go back a few yards.

Roquiño Bar restaurant in the main street to Santiago de Compostela is a decent place to eat. As in La Bodeguilla in the same street (Camiño de Pena)

The past was very much more dangerous.

Had the technology of today, been available in centuries past, how would these events have been reported? Wringing of hands, wailing & gnashing of teeth? At least, we would have drones.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazakh%E2%80%93Dzungar_Wars#Kazakh%E2%80%93Dzungar_War_(1635%E2%80%931636)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dzungar_genocide

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. I am nearly 84, with a lifetime of knowledge that becomes unavailable when I die. When I look at the events as reported in the MSM, I realise that ignorance of global history is a prerequisite for reporters of all that ilk.

For the UK to splurge over £100 billion on HS2, which would be a prime target for Russian ballistic missiles & then discover that the current HMG prefers social security spending rather than focusing on home defence, leads me back to George Santayana. In 1905, he wrote “Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve & no direction is set for possible improvement & when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. In the first stage of life the mind is frivolous & easily distracted; it misses progress by failing in consecutiveness & persistence. This is the condition of children & barbarians, in whom instinct has learned nothing from experience”. He probably had “career (off the road) politicians” in mind.

Psychopathy is evilness so the answer is obvious.

By FAR the most vital urgent and DEEP understanding everyone needs to gain is that a mafia network of manipulating PSYCHOPATHS (or sociopaths) is, and always has been, governing big businesses and institutions (eg official medicine, big academia, big tech, big banks, big religions), governments and the world — the evidence is, and has been, very solid in front of everyone’s “awake” nose: see “The 2 Married Pink Elephants In The Historical Room”… https://www.rolf-hefti.com/covid-19-coronavirus.html

“We’ll sit on the edge of our seats watching made-up tales about psychopathic killers while psychopathic killers rule the world.” — Caitlin Johnstone, Independent Journalist

    Yet…

“I’ve come to realize that the biggest problem anywhere in the world is that people’s perceptions of reality are compulsively filtered through the screening mesh of WHAT THEY WANT, AND DO NOT WANT, TO BE TRUE.” — Travis Walton, Author

And psychopaths are typically NOT how Hollywood propaganda movies (or the Wikipedia/WebMD propaganda outlets) have showcased them. And therefore one better RE-learns what a psychopath REALLY is. One’ll then know why they exploit/harm everyone, why they want to control everyone and have been creating a new world order/global dictatorship, and many other formerly puzzling things will become very clear.

Of even greater significance in terms of global mass understanding is this… Global rulership by psychopaths is only ONE part of the equation that makes up the destructive human condition as the cited article above explains.

Without a proper understanding, and full acknowledgment, of the true WHOLE problem and reality, no real constructive LASTING change is possible for humanity.
And if anyone does NOT acknowledge, recognize, and face (either wittingly or unwittingly) the WHOLE truth THEY are helping to prevent this from happening. And so they are “part of the problem” and not part of the solution.

“The problem we face is that few people really care beyond being fed and entertained.” — Paul Craig Roberts, Ph.D., American economist & former US regime official, in 2026 [https://paulcraigroberts.org/the-lies-used-to-deceive-us]

“If we have learned anything in the past six years, it is that vaccinologists, doctors, and the government in general do not have good intentions and never did. The clear intention of everyone concerned was and is to make as much dirty money as possible, letting any amount of collateral damage slide, including a genocide and mass poisoning [with Covid-19 jabs]. The fact [is] that Big Pharma just murdered millions of people, with the full support of government, media, and “science”. With Covid, everyone is part of the fraud, many of them paid off, so no one has any reason to expose it, and big reasons to bury it. Don’t believe anything these people tell you, ABOUT ANYTHING. It isn’t time for a civil war against your neighbors, it is time for a revolution against these hoaxers and thieves.” — Miles Mathis, American author, in 2025

How can the masses potentially get out of this whole mess (and create justice, freedom and peace for all)? First, EVERYONE needs to learn, and teach others, what TRUE morality is —99% of people don’t know what it is because (1) it’s NOT taught in the official indoctrination system, better know as the “education system,” and (2) it’s NOT the same as religious morality: https://odysee.com/@woeih:e/Mark-Passio-Government-Is-Slavery:a
    https://odysee.com/@woeih:e/Mark-Passio-Interviewed-By-Shaun-Atwood-2026-06-18:6

Because if you don’t know what TRUE morality is you will not stop doing, unwittingly or wittingly, evil things…

“The solution is NOT to create something new (eg, new systems of organization, new technologies, etc). The solution is to STOP being complicit with evil. To STOP doing things that are not moral for a reward. To STOP being complicit with anything the control system tells us we must do.” — Mark Passio, Spiritual Teacher, in 2023

    • Hello Gaylee,

What is evil & is psychopathy evil? Evil is often defined as the intentional infliction of harm or suffering on others, reflecting a malicious nature. Psychopathy is frequently associated with evil due to its traits of lack of empathy & remorse, leading individuals to intentionally harm others without feeling guilt. Trump might have psychopathic tendencies, but I incline to the view that he is woefully ignorant of global events & that is worse. There can be knowledge without wisdom, but there is no wisdom without knowledge. He’s a *ing dullard.

I do not agree with you nor Miles Mathis on the subject of vaccination. Over my life, I have been vaccinated against Smallpox, Poliomyelitis, Diphtheria, Shingles, Tetanus, many strains of Influenza,  Respiratory syncytial virus RSV & COVID-19 (multiple types & times).

I have multiple co-morbidities, an Aortic Root Aneurysm, LVH, A1ATD & Diverticular Disease ( two laparotomies & five catastrophic internal bleeds). I had radiotherapy for cancer in my neck in 2021. I received a Watchman left aortic appendage closure in 2022 & a Pacemaker in 2023, yet here I am at nearly 84, still coffin-dodging.

In order to be able to live to 100, it is necessary to choose one’s parents, very carefully. Here is good counsel: Allfather, give us courage to change what must be altered, serenity to accept what can not be helped & insight to know the one from the other.

      Anecdotally,

      Perry
