And, Lo, has caught the Sultan’s Turret in a Noose of Light
Spanish life is not always likeable but it is compellingly loveable

This is a foto of 2 ex-mansions in Pv city’s old quarter, up from the river and the wonderful market:-

One of them is for sale, but I’m not sure which. I think the one on the right. If you have €1.5m to spare – plus a bit more to restore it – it’s yours for the asking. Large garden. And the remains of a grand staircase, in granite of course-
This shop is just below the Plaza de Verdura in Pv’s old quarter; it’s had a sign like this one in the window for at least the 21 years I’ve been here. I’m beginning to suspect it’s not true.

There are big plans to increase the goods-train(mercancias) network in Spain, connecting it with other countries.

As usual, Galicia doesn’t seem to figure in the plans, despite its car factories and its massive seafood industry. Perhaps it’s better to send the latter to Madrid by plane. The locals of course, are not at all happy about this.
This is something incomprehensible from Gwyneth Paltrow. I might have mentioned that I once stood next to her and didn’t notice anything pretty about her. Maybe she’s improved.

This is something sent to me by my Spanish son-n-law:-

Polla means both ‘hen’ and ‘cock’, as it were. I will provide the literal translations and – rude – Spanish meanings and their English equivalents tomorrow. Don’t read them if your’e easily offended.
Things grow here 1: My neighbour turfed his garden last year but, unhappy with the results, tore up the lawn and planted seeds. He’s away a lot and his younger son used to tend the resulting sward but he’s has now gone away to study and I see the lawn is now infested with weeds:-

Which made me feel a tad better about my own lawn, which is far from ‘British’ but at least reflects my weed-killing success:-

Things grow here 2: During the 3 weeks I was away, my bougainvillea sent up several suckers at least a metre long. Or 33cm a week. One foot in old currency.
This is a statue of Teucro, the (totally) mythical founder of Pv city:-

And this is the building atop of which he stands:-

As you can see, he’s still missing the bit of his bow which fell down a couple of years ago and nearly killed someone:-
Finally . . .
To amuse:-
