Insanity on stilts . . .
The New York Times here:-
- For Trump, the Iran attack is the ultimate war of choice
- There was no immediate threat from Iran.
- There was no race for a bomb. Iran is further from the capability to build a nuclear weapon today than it has been in several years.
- Trump saw a chance to push a weakened government over the edge, and is betting he can spark a popular uprising.
- He never built a case for war. He never presented evidence of an imminent threat, or answered the question of why a nuclear program he claimed he had “obliterated” 8 months ago was now on the brink of revival.
- He seems to link his attack on Iran ato his 2020 election loss. Claims that Iran tried to ‘stop Trump’ and now ‘faces renewed war with United States’
- He hasn’t explained why Iran is a bigger threat to the USA [cf. Israel] than North Korea, China or Russia
The results . . . All so predictable . . .
See here.
- The war spreads.
- Trump admits it won’t be over in days.
- Refuses to answer questions (unprecedented).
- Makes deranged and callous comments (very precedented) about the dead US soldiers
- Oil prices surge (as expected)
