The rant of a megalomaniacal narcissist who’s increasingly suffering from frontal lobe dementia:-

• The Wall Street Journal: President Trump owes the Supreme Court an apology—to the individual Justices he smeared on Friday and the institution itself. Mr. Trump doubtless won’t offer one, but his rant in response to his tariff defeat at the Court was arguably the worst moment of his Presidency.

• Trump’s plan to defy the Supreme Court.

• The American election system is in a ‘partisan death spiral.

• The majority of American believe Trump is moving the USA in the wrong direction. He has lost support even among Republicans. As ever, though, he refuses to accept this, saying he’s amazed the ´fake’ polls don’t report what he knows to be true.

EmmyLou Harris says her favourite TV series is The West Wing, which ended in 2006.. She says it’s helping her get through what’s happening now, making her hopeful and depressed at the same time. As I’ve been watching the series myself, I know exactly what she means. I’ve frequently thought that Trump’s White House must be nothing like the impressive one portrayed in that series

With Canada, the EU and now India playing hard ball with the USA on trade, I’d say we’re seeing the start of the decline of the US hegemony. Ironically, this has been achieved my a man – OK, an idiot rather than a colossus – telling us he was making America great – supported by a majority of voters and unresisted by a supine Republican party. A sort of suicide pact, I guess. And he has 3 more years to go . . .

A very old saying – Trust arrives on foot but departs on horseback. I suspect it’ll be a long time before the USA is trusted again. If ever.
