Trumpisms

I read very well. Great comprehension. [Sorry, Donald. We know this is the opposite of the truth]

News

Trump has branded the Supreme Court’s decision on tariffs “ridiculous, poorly written, and extraordinarily anti-American”. And he’s labelled the judges fools and dupes of the lunatic Left. He’s immediately switched to Miller’s back-up strategy of a universal tariff on imports, initially 10% but, in true Trump fashion, soon raised to 15%. But he’s only allowed to do so for 150 days. Enough time, though, for Miller to think up some other daft scheme.

Needing the approval of the federal Arts Commission to proceed with his monumental East Wing, last October Trump gutted it and installed his lackeys. His latest appointment is a woman of 26 with no arts experience. She was officially the ‘executive assistant to the president and deputy director of Oval Office operations’ but was more widely known as a White House receptionist. But she looks good.

Quotes/Observations

Good news:

Bad news

  • Hartmann: If I’m right, the consequences could be world-changing, and will certainly alter how our politics work for decades to come: Ibid.
  • I’ve been watching the West Wing series through this dark, wet winter. A 2006 episode has the newly elected president saying in his victory speech: Our country has become more polarised. You can’t run for president and not see that. Well, it turns out you can. In fact, you can run 3 times and win twice. And go on to make a country that was more polarised in 2016 than in 2006 even more polarised by 2026.

Non-comedic Commentaries

A must-see commentary – Jen Psaki with: Trump spirals through the 5 stages of grief after the Supreme Court rejects his tariffs scheme. Starting with a rant and ending with a 6th stage unique to Trump, when he claims powers he clearly doesn’t have. One of the maddest speeches you’ll ever hear. Some nice quotes from Psaki re Trump’s obsessions.

Bessent gets even crazier and dishonest than he has been to date.
