Trumpisms
- I am totally exonerated by the publication of the Epstein documents.
- We cannot let the Democrats get away with no voter ID. They are horrible disingenuous cheaters
- The Democrats are corrupt and deranged and will do all sorts of terrible things if they get back into power
- The Dems are demented and evil people who want to knowingly and happily destroy the country.
Quotes/Comments
- A tad ironic – Trump used the inaugural meeting of his preposterous Board of Peace to threaten Iran with war . .
- And he issued this utterly delusional statement: I believe it’s the most consequential board. Certainly, in terms of power, and in terms of prestige, there’s never been anything close, because these are the greatest world leaders, Almost everybody’s accepted*, and the ones that haven’t will be. Some are playing a little cute — doesn’t work. Can’t play cute with me. They’re playing a little bit, but, uh, they’re all, they’re all joining. Everybody has, most of them very immediately. *Almost no European leader has.
- The board’s members nearly all come from countries Trump has previously dismissed as shitholes.
- It’s been the golden age of corruption.
- The Supreme Court’s decision on tariffs is the beginning of the end.
- Having lost power, he will simply turn to even greater grift.
Has there ever been in history a leader who not only told endless lies but – according to at least one expert – really does believe the ones he constantly repeats?
An analysis of Trump’s lies.
Before I asked an AI engine about the categories of these, I came up with:-
- About himself: Stable genius, the world’s best businessman/lover/reality TV star/playboy etc., etc.
- About his achievements: Won the 2020 election, stopped 8 wars, deserve the Nobel Prize, cancelled inflation, boomed the economy, made America the hottest country, etc., etc.
- About others:
Positive: Fantastic guy, close friend, known him for years, loves me, etc., etc.
Negative: Fake news, loser, low ratings, nasty, has-been weak, have screwed the USA for years, etc., etc. - About things: Epstein a Democrat hoax, global warming a Chinese hoax, windmills kill birds and cause cancer, crime in Washington down to nil, tariffs aren’t taxes, foreigners pay them, they’re a great success, bringing billions into the USA, they don’t increase prices, etc., etc.
- About Americans: I have put money in your pockets, you are richer because of me, life is better for you thanks to me.
The thing is, even the MAGA core – who will swallow category 1-4 lies even when they’re contradictory are not swallowing category 5 lies, as they know these don’t reflect their own experience. They’re not prepared to suspend judgement and go on – as cult followers – believing in him. This is why his approval ratings have plummeted. His category 5 lies are catching up with him in a way the other 4 haven’t.
Perplexity on Trump’s lies
Trump’s false or misleading statements have been grouped into various categories based on their content, purpose, and frequency. These categorizations often draw from comprehensive databases tracking over 30,000 claims during his first presidency, with similar patterns noted in his second term. Analyses like James Pfiffner’s taxonomy divide them into 4 core types: trivial lies (minor inaccuracies), exaggerations and self-aggrandizing lies (boasting about achievements), lies to deceive the public (policy distortions), and egregious lies (high-impact falsehoods on elections or health). Fact-checking outlets identify recurring themes, such as:
• Election fraud claims (e.g., “stolen 2020 election,” repeated hundreds of times).
• Economy and jobs (e.g., “best economy ever,” “largest tax cut,” despite metrics showing otherwise).
• Immigration (e.g., fear-mongering about crime or wall construction).
• COVID-19 and health (e.g., downplaying the virus, unproven treatments).
• Foreign policy and aid (e.g., tariffs, wars “ended,” aid waste like “condoms for Hamas”).
Category Example
- Self-Promotion: “Greatest economy,” exaggerated accomplishment
- Political Attacks: Russia probe, Biden policies, “fake news”
- Policy Lies: Taxes, immigration, climate denial
- Election-Related: Voter fraud, rigged systems
In his second term, categories persist with additions like price/inflation denial (“every price is down”) and fabricated foreign aid waste, often tied to broader narratives on crime or diplomacy.
