There is this morning a wide range of adverse commentary on YouTube and the US’s despairing late-night show hosts and liberal political commentators naturally had a field-day with Trump’s mindless rant and his TACO retreat to a ‘deal’ not better than the US has had in respect of Iceland-cum-Greenland since 1951.

Here and here are biting reviews that are as good as any, from Jen Psaki and Rachel Maddow, respectively. A taster from the latter: When the president of the USA announces a deal, there should be at least one recognisable feature – terms, paper a signature, a timeline. Anything. Literally, anything beyond a vague cloud of self-congratulation drifting across social media like a bad cologne. [BTW: Maddow’s commentary might well be AI generated – I’m not sure from what – but it still sounds valid].

Of course, it’s not hard to believe that the servile, duplicitous Katherine Leavitt repeated her boss’s post-speech claim that people raved about his rave. It’s intriguing to ask what she will be employed as after Trump’s demise. A corporate parrot?
