The Pope will visit Madrid, Barcelona and the Canaries this year. Surprisingly, he won’t be walking through Pv city on the Camino. Or even visiting Santiago de Compostela. Perhaps he doesn’t believe the bones of St James lie in the cathedral there. Like many of us.
Another rare Galician name, this time male – Aldán. Which is actually a small cove along the coast from Marín.
We have a renovated kids’ park in Poio, celebrating the birth nearby – say some – of Columbus(Colón). It naturally features his main ship, the Santa María, which really was built near this spot, and originally named La Gallega.

The turning point? Unprecedented popular street activity. This has moved from an uprising to a revolution. Richard North’s update. A tad harsh on The Guardian, I feel.
The USA
The same people who claim the woman killed in Minneapolis was a domestic terrorist are telling us that the people who stormed the Capitol are heroes.
A big day, today: Trump didn’t send an invasion force to any of his named next targets, as far as I know. Too busy on the ballroom that ‘everyone’ is thrilled about and which will be the best the world has ever seen.
From The New Yorker: The folly of Trump’s oil imperialism. The President has made clear he wants to exploit Venezuela’s vast oil reserves; history suggests that it won’t be easy.
Russia v Ukraine
Today, Trump is fed up with ‘tiresome’ Putin. Tomorrow? Who knows. Apparently it’s dawned on him that his mate Vlad is ‘playing for time’ rather than seeking peace. So, now Trump sees him as a bigger obstacle to peace than Zelensky, Not exactly a quick learner, then. Maybe more tankers will be boarded.

I spent the night at a Trump Hotel. It was exactly as you’d imagine. Subtle decor and liberal guests were thin on the ground.

North is not harsh on the Guardian. He is being downright silly. I just had the opportunity to watch Russian TV and listen to what they had to say about the uprising. According to the Russians protestors just are violent vandals sponsored by the west and Israel who go around beating policemen and old pensioners. Apparently, they even (accidentally) shot a 3 year old girl whose grieving father was then interviewed by state media. The Guardian is just being cautious given how previous revolts petered out at the end. I don’t think there is any doubt about which side the Guardian is on. North just hates the Guardian. He should save his hatred to the real villains.

(Lenox) I got the same thing, each ‘cloud warning’ – maybe ten of them – I blocked and they came back from another address. Plus McAfee and Norton asking for renewals: I don’t use either of them.

Hola Colin,
It is uncanny how the character of Trump is similar to past authoritarians. By changing the name in the following story, one would swear that this joke from Soviet times had recently been invented in the U.S.A.:
“In yet another paean to himself, Stalin ordered the printing of a postage stamp bearing his image. He instructed that no expense be spared and that the best materials be used.
“Soon, however, complaints filtered back that the new stamps were not sticking to envelopes. Stalin was furious and ordered an immediate investigation.
“After s short time the secret police reported back to him. ‘Tovarish Stalin,’ a commissar said humbly. ‘The stamps are in excellent condition. The glue is of the highest quality. The problem is that people are spitting on the wrong side.'”
¡Qué mundo!
