Awake, for morning in the bowl of night has flung the stone that puts the stars to flight. And, lo, has caught the sultan’s turretl in a noose of light!

Spanish life is not always likeable but it is compellingly loveable.-  Christopher Howse: ‘A Pilgrim in Spain’

Well, my laptop has died, so it’s back to typing on my phone with my thumbs.

And no foto of the view from my eyrie today. And possibly for several days.

And maybe some ugly-form links.

The UK

You might already know that the London police have further damaged their – already poor – reputation by threatening to arrest a Jewish pedestrian for a breach of the peace by standing on the pavement as a pro -Palestine procession went by. Quite a social media storm, of course. Doubtless edifying.

The EU

A columnist in the Telegraph claims that the EU has finally realised it needs the UK more than the UK needs it. Which surely ranks as wishful thinking. Even if it’s true..

Russia

Where many of the expensive cars stolen in the UK end up. Range Rovers seem to be a favourite.

Quote of the Day

Politics is a magnet for the rash and reckless. Why do politicians of all stripes, who all  know what’s at satke, take such crazy risks?  Truth is they’re not normal people.

Hence the endless sex scandals.

Reminds me of the old office desk sign – You don’t have to be crazy to work here. But it helps.

Talking of being daft . . .

Did You Know?

Falling asleep with your laptop on your chest might allow it to fall on the floor, with consequences for the charging port. Just a theory right now

Finally . . .

None of the plastic and aluminium products I’ve checked have used the number system recently cited. When, I get my laptop back, I’ll post a few fotos.

For new readers: If you’ve landed here looking for info on Galicia or Pontevedra, try here. If you’re passing through Pontevedra on the Camino, you’ll find a guide to the city there.

If  you’re thinking of moving to Spain, gonto one of my recent posts to see a link to an excellent guide on this.

  1. A record number of groaniads today Colin. I’m assuming that’s down to your laptop being kaput. Typing at any speed on a mobile is laborious and it’s easy to make a number of bloopers.
